West Coast Warm Water Weekend

West Coast Warm Water Weekend

21/22 September 2019

It was a last minute decision to enter WWW.  Those are sometimes the best weekends.

Just had to check for no 'purple' wind on WindGuru.

We arrived in Langebaan to a beautiful Friday sunset with glassy waters, perrrfect!

It was a Saturday sneak session out the accommodation to transition. Hoping desperately not to wake my child and nanny from a spinning bike wheel as we all slept in the same room.

Arrived, racked bike and all that stuff.  Got a lift to the swim start in a panel van.  Thank you to guys like Dolfie who let the girls sit in the front and guys in the back like stowaways!

The still Lagoon shortly turned into a sardine run with a good few bodily kicks -Lesson learned, start near the front.  The water was warm, clean and glassy which was such a treat.

We don't always get to swim in such clean waters!

Fast out and onto the bike which headed into the West Coast Reserve with some nice little hills to keep it fun.  So beautiful with flower season and birds.

Onto the run with a fellow track runner, Helen, which was awesome! It was a 10km trail run with some nice little variables like single track along the lagoon, onto the beach and a loop in the reserve.  Ran the last bit in the rain which was the best then you wear 6 year old's spare hoodie to keep warm.

I loved this race because of the family like vibe and the little bits of adventure in each discipline.
