XTERRA review

XTERRA Grabouw is one of my favourite events to attend. It is a top class event with a course worthy of a World Championship. I was a bit disappointed with the course change on the bike as they took out some iconic pieces of single track however the course was a lot faster which added another dynamic of racing to the well-known event which was a positive breath of fresh air.

I had a tumble during course recon on the bike as well as I cut my foot on a rock practicing my swim exit. This however didn’t dampen my spirits. With a bruised back and a super glued foot I happily toed the line to give it my all.
The event ran very smoothly and I was happy to claim the third position behind my strong training partner Cameron Macnair, who placed second, and a previous world champion Bradley Weiss, who absolutely dominated the race from the word go. I learnt a lot from the event and it was great preparation for my World Championship coming up in April in Spain.
