African Triathlon Champs Tunisia
Africa Triathlon Champs was always going to be a big one and a hotly contested race and a new experience for me, traveling and racing outside the country for the first time.
The race was brutal from the gun and I felt pretty strong on the 2 lap 1.5km swim, exiting the water in 17min27sec in about 5th place. A few errors in transition cost me some precious seconds but I just managed to recover and fight back to the pack.
It was onto the bike for a 6 lap flat and fast course which was made really tough with strong winds causing havoc with our pack of 8 riders. We all came into T2 together finishing the bike in 1h11seconds and onto what would be a super hot and windy 10km run.
On the first lap of the run I wasn’t feeling like myself and knew I would have to dig deep and try pull something out the bag. As the run went on I started to find my legs and was starting to feel a lot better and ended finishing pretty strong, which I was happy with, finishing the 10km in 34min48sec and finishing 3rd u23 at Africa triathlon champs in a time of 1h53min30sec.
All in all was a great experience looking forward to the next one.
